Bhubaneswar: Over 10,000 senior citizens and persons with disabilities in Odisha are still awaiting their monthly pension of Rs 3,500 under the Madhu Babu Pension Yojana (MBPY) and the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Minister Nityananda Gond informed the state assembly on Friday.
In a written reply to Kendrapara MLA Ganeswar Behera, Minister Gond stated that 4,223 applicants aged 80 years and above, and 5,994 applicants with 80% or more disability, are yet to receive the pension.
The minister also stated that the State Government is taking steps to process these applications after proper verification, in accordance with the respective scheme guidelines and rules of MBPY and NSAP.
