Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the Odisha Assembly that the state has witnessed a significant rise in cybercrime cases, with 3486 incidents registered in the last 16 months.
In response to a query raised by MLA Rama Chandra Kadam, Majhi stated that 69 digital arrests were made, and 727 persons were apprehended for their involvement in cybercrimes during this period.
According to the data presented by the Chief Minister, 104 cases have been charge-sheeted, and the accused are facing trial. The total financial loss incurred by the victims amounts to Rs. 222,09,78,647. However, efforts are underway to recover the lost amount, with Rs. 61,36,381 already refunded to the victims or credited to their bank accounts. Additionally, bank accounts worth Rs. 6,74,09,434 have been frozen.
