Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi paid floral tribute to renowned poet and freedom fighter Kantakabi Laxmikanta Mohapatra on his birth anniversary at the poet’s statue near the State Assembly.
Majhi, in a post on his X handle, lauded Mohapatra’s contributions to Odia language, culture, and literature, calling him a pioneer of Odia nationality and literature.
The garlanding ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, Speaker Surama Padhy, Deputy Speaker Bhabani Shankar Bhoi, and other ministers and legislators. They paid homage to Mohapatra, acknowledging his contributions to Odia literature and culture.
Mohapatra’s works are considered a cornerstone of Odia identity, and his legacy continues to inspire generations. The Chief Minister urged people to draw inspiration from his ideals and work towards enhancing the glory of Odisha.
“On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Kantakabi Laxmikanta Mohapatra, today, near the Assembly, a garland was offered at his statue to pay floral tributes. Mohapatra was not merely a poet; he was a pioneer of Odia nationality and literature. His literary endeavours, especially his immortal composition ‘Bande Utkala Janani,’ continue to bind the people of Odisha together in the thread of unity as a symbol of our Odishan pride and identity. His great contributions to the fields of Odia language, culture, and literature will remain memorable forever. It is fitting that every Odia resolve to keep his works in memory eternally and, drawing inspiration from his ideals, commit to enhancing the glory of Odisha. On this auspicious birth anniversary, I offer my profound homage at the feet of Kantakabi”, the CM wrote on his X handle.
