Rayagada: A gruesome murder has shocked Lalibi village in Rayagada district, where a 20-year-old youth hacked his 45-year-old father to death with an axe. The reason behind the brutal act was the father’s refusal to give money for a mobile phone.
The incident occurred on Monday night when Bhima Kadraka (45) was sleeping in his hut. His son Uday Kadraka attacked him with an axe, inflicting seven injuries on his head, chest, and back. He then wrapped a shawl around the body and dumped it in a nearby field.
The body was discovered by the victim’s wife, Champa Kadraka, who alerted the villagers. The police arrived, and Uday was arrested. The body was sent for an autopsy.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Uday had been demanding money from his father to buy a mobile phone, but Bhima had refused, citing financial constraints. The dispute escalated, leading to the tragic incident.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the village, casting a pall of gloom over Lalibi.
