13th Nijukti Mela: CM Majhi Hands Over 591 Appointment Letters, Advises New Appointees To Stay Away From Corruption

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today addressed the 13th Nijukti Mela-2025 at Krishi Shiksha Sadan, OUAT, and urged the newly recruited officials to consider government employment as public service. He emphasised the importance of avoiding corruption and performing their duties diligently.

The Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various irrigation projects worth crores, benefiting thousands of farmers across the state. A total of 591 newly recruited Assistant Executive Engineers (AEEs) from three engineering departments received appointment letters.

Majhi highlighted the government’s commitment to filling 1.5 lakh vacant posts in five years, with 37,916 appointments made in the last 18 months. He also announced plans to fill another 30,000 posts in the next six months.

The Chief Minister launched the ‘Mukhyamantri Adibandha Tiyari Yojana (MATY)’ with a sanction of Rs 2,738 crore, aiming to construct 3,000 new check dams and rehabilitate 2,000 old ones, providing irrigation facilities to 48,000 hectares of land.

The projects inaugurated and foundation laid include 101 check dams in 22 districts, benefiting 2,416 hectares of land, 201 check dams in 15 districts, benefiting 5,342 hectares of land, two large-scale lift irrigation projects in Mayurbhanj and Gajapati districts, benefiting 4,000 hectares of land, underground irrigation system for 10,000 hectares of land in Balasore district, new small irrigation project in Angul district, benefiting 33 crore, six large-scale irrigation projects in Sambalpur district, worth Rs 355 crore, and 28,302 irrigation projects in 20 districts, worth Rs 1,515 crore.

Housing and Urban Development Minister Dr. Krushna Chandra Mohapatra also spoke at the event, emphasising the importance of employment in development.
