Baripada: As many as five persons were injured as a Bolero vehicle they were travelling in plunged 40 feet off a bridge at Nalgaja under Rasagobindapur police station in Mayurbhanj district late last night.
According to reports, the vehicle, carrying nine people, was heading to a wedding ceremony in Mayurbhanj’s Jhatiada village from West Bengal’s Gopiballavpur when the accident occurred. Locals rushed to the scene and rescued the occupants, taking them to Rasgobindapur Hospital for initial treatment. The injured were later referred to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital for further care. The mishap left three passengers critically injured.
The critically injured include Satyaban Babul, Rasan Das, and Krishna Bag. The driver is reportedly missing, believed to have jumped out before the accident.
Rasagobindapur police have, meanwhile, launched an investigation into the incident.
