Soro (Balasore): Panic gripped the Soro Community Health Centre (CHC) area on Thursday noon after a youth allegedly brandished a gun at the Aahaar Kendra located within the hospital premises, terrorising patients, attendants and locals present at the spot.
According to sources, the youth suddenly took out a firearm and threatened people at the Aahar Kendra, triggering fear and chaos in the busy hospital campus. On being alerted, Soro police immediately rushed to the scene.
Sensing police presence, the youth attempted to flee after abandoning the gun at the spot. However, alert local residents chased and detained him before he could escape. The police later took him into custody.
Preliminary information suggests that the youth had been staying in a rented accommodation at Badei Sahi for the past few days. However, his actual identity and background are yet to be ascertained.
Police have seized the firearm and launched an investigation to determine how the youth procured the gun, his motive behind the act, and whether he has any criminal antecedents.
