Bhubaneswar: With the English New Year 2026 around the corner, the Puri Police have launched extensive preparations to manage the expected influx of lakhs of devotees coming for the darshan of Lord Jagannath and His siblings.
“Every year, lakhs of devotees visit Puri during New Year and Christmas (Bada Dina). This year, we have already begun preparations to ensure safety, security, smooth darshan, and effective crowd management. Odisha DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania has also reviewed the arrangements,” said Puri Superintendent of Police Prateek Singh while speaking to the media on Saturday.
He added that the police are coordinating closely with the Puri district administration to put in place necessary facilities, including shade arrangements, CCTV cameras, public address systems, information centres, shoe stands, and drinking water points.
Singh further said that a large number of tourists are expected to visit Puri’s beaches during this period.
“Special arrangements are being made at Chandrabhaga Beach, Ramachandi Beach, and Golden Sea Beach. ODRAF teams, fire and emergency services, and additional lifeguards will be deployed to ensure safety,” he added.
The SP also highlighted that measures are being taken to ensure safe and convenient darshan for senior citizens and differently-abled devotees.
“Our aim is to provide a safe and smooth experience for all pilgrims and tourists visiting Puri during the festive season,” Singh said.
