Bhubaneswar: Former Managing Director of the Orissa Rural Housing Development Corporation (ORHDC) has been convicted for the 12th time in a corruption case.
The Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, sentenced former IAS officer Vinod Kumar and six others to three years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine for misappropriating government funds meant for rural poor people.
The convicted individuals are Vinod Kumar, Former Managing Director, ORHDC; Swosti Ranjan Mohapatra, Ex-Company Secretary; Pradeep Kumar Rout, Ex-Accounts Officer; Satya Prakash Behera, Ex-Junior Loan Officer; Janendra Swain, Ex-System Analyst; Umesh Chandra Swain, Ex-Recovery Assistant; and Samgram Keshari Sahoo, Proprietor of M/S-Ecstasy Builders & Developers Pvt. Ltd.
The court found them guilty of diverting funds obtained on a government guarantee to benefit private builder Samgram Keshari Sahoo by creating fake and forged documents, causing a loss of Rs 52,95,000.
This conviction marks the 12th time Vinod Kumar has been found guilty of corruption in ORHDC cases involving conspiracy with private individuals.
