Bhubaneswar: The Kharif season paddy procurement is in full swing in Odisha, with the government implementing measures to ensure transparency and prevent unauthorised paddy inflow from neighbouring states. Registered farmers are being encouraged to sell their produce at mandis through awareness campaigns.
To prevent outside paddy from entering the state, enforcement teams are deployed in border districts like Nuapada, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, and Sundargarh. In Nuapada, camera-mounted vehicles and staff are stationed at border check posts to seal the borders. Regular checks are being conducted on vehicles carrying paddy, and strict action is taken against irregularities.
District collectors have issued instructions to ensure compliance, and District Civil Supply Officers are providing support. Block-level teams are on alert to curb attempts to smuggle paddy from other states.
