Bhubaneswar: The state government has commenced paddy procurement in 18 districts during the Kharif season with the introduction of the Aadhaar-based payment system to ensure direct and secure payment to farmers.
As of now, 2,71,318 farmers have sold their paddy at nearby Mandis, and payment has been credited to 1,85,820 farmers.
The total amount disbursed so far is Rs 2,247.52 crore towards Minimum Support Price (MSP) and Rs 693.51 crore towards Input Assistance. The Aadhaar-based payment system, implemented through the P-PAS (Paddy Procurement Automation System) Portal, ensures that only genuine farmers receive payment directly into their bank accounts.
Despite the efficient system, some payment transactions have failed, primarily due to account freeze, Aadhaar de-seeding, KYC pending, and bank accounts reaching the maximum transaction limit. The government is contacting affected farmers to rectify the issues and update their KYC details.
Farmers can contact OSCSC Headquarters or dial the toll-free helpline number 1967 for assistance.
