Bhubaneswar: The Capital Regional Urban Transport (CRUT) has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the family of auto driver Bishnu Patra, who died in an accident involving an ‘Ama Bus’ at Rupali Square in Bhubaneswar.
The CRUT has also announced Rs 50,000 compensation for the injured persons undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital. The bus driver has been arrested.
According to CRUT, the accident occurred at 11:57 am near Rupali Chack between a bus and a passenger auto on route number 32, going from Lingaraj to Beramunda. The bus collided with the auto-rickshaw from behind, resulting in the death of the auto driver, Vishnu Patra (62), a resident of Binjharpur in Jajpur district. Two passengers, including a student, Namita Pradhan (21), were injured and are undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital.
The CRUT has expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and assured all possible support. The organisation is reviewing corrective and preventive measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
