Bhubaneswar: Vigilance has arrested the Inspector in Charge (IIC) of CRRI police station, Cuttack for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 from a licensed liquor vendor.
IIC Bijay Kumar Barik was apprehended at Rajmahal Chhak, Bhubaneswar, and the entire bribe amount has been recovered and seized.
Simultaneous searches are underway at two locations linked to Barik to investigate potential disproportionate assets.
Approximately, Rs 5 lakh cash has been recovered during house search at his government quarters located at Unit 1, Bhubaneswar. Searches are underwaying. He is being interrogated on the bribe demand and the source of recovered cash.
A case has been registered against him under Cell Division PS Case No 1/2026, U/s-7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018.
