Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) on Monday announced that it will resume its statewide padyatra, ‘Gandhi Pathe Odisha’, starting January 30, 2026.

The move comes on the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, reflecting the party’s effort to connect with grassroots issues across the state.

OPCC president Bhakta Charan Das said the padyatra will recommence from Malkangiri district, where the march had earlier been left pending. A five-day padyatra is planned in Malkangiri, followed by marches in Nabarangpur, Koraput, and Rayagada districts.

After that, the march will continue in other districts, covering approximately 20 km per day, with one block being covered each day.

“The padyatra aims to highlight key public issues and bring solutions under the banner of ‘Gandhi Pathe Odisha’. We want to ensure that people’s voices are heard and addressed across all districts,” said OPCC president Bhakta Charan Das while speaking to the media.

The OPCC emphasized that the padyatra is part of its larger initiative to strengthen grassroots connections, raise awareness about social and economic challenges, and engage with citizens at the local level.

The party also noted that resuming the march on January 30 holds symbolic importance, marking the day Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated in 1948.
