Bhubaneswar: Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania advised public not to panic and to cooperate with the police in maintaining security and assisting the investigation after anonymous emails threatening to damage court premises were received at courts in Sambalpur, Cuttack, and Deogarh.
“The police have taken cognizance of the matter and initiated a thorough investigation. As a precautionary measure, police checking and enhanced security arrangements have been put in place at all concerned locations. The situation is under close monitoring”, stated DGP in a release.
However, no explosives were found at any location. Investigations are underway to trace the source of the emails.
Notably, three courts in Cuttack and Sambalpur districts were put on high alert after bomb threats were received via email, prompting evacuations and thorough searches by police and security agencies.
According to reports, the District Judge’s Court and Orissa High Court in Cuttack were evacuated following the bomb threats, with metal detectors, bomb squads and sniffer dogs deployed to sweep the premises.
