Bhubaneswar: Two youths were killed after their motorcycle was hit by an unidentified vehicle near Nampo Chhak on the Jaleswar–Chandaneswar stretch of National Highway No. 57 in Balasore district early on Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as Gautam Sahu (18) and Chandra Shekhar Mahapatra (22), both residents of Baghua village in the district.
According to reports, the duo was on their way to Jaleswar railway station at around 3 am when the mishap occurred. An unidentified vehicle allegedly rammed into their motorcycle near Nampo Chhak and fled the scene, killing both on the spot.
On receiving information, police from the Nampo outpost rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to G.K. Bhatar Community Health Centre, Jaleswar, for post-mortem examination.
An investigation has been initiated to trace the offending vehicle.
