Global Industry Sees Bharat As An Increasingly Reliable Supply-Chain Partner: Ashwini Vaishnaw

Davos: Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday said that the global industry now views Bharat as a dependable and strategic supply-chain partner, driven by the country’s rapid progress in building a complete semiconductor and artificial intelligence ecosystem.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum here, Vaishnaw said Bharat is steadily building a full semiconductor ecosystem that covers every major segment of the value chain, including chip design, fabrication, packaging, materials, specialty gases and advanced equipment.

He said this integrated approach is helping India reduce dependence on imports while creating new opportunities for global collaboration.

“Global industry sees Bharat as an increasingly reliable supply chain partner,” Vaishnaw stated.

“Bharat is building a complete semiconductor ecosystem covering design, fabrication, packaging, materials, gases and equipment,” he mentioned.

Vaishnaw noted that international companies now see Bharat as an increasingly reliable partner in global supply chains, especially at a time when countries are looking to diversify manufacturing bases and reduce risks linked to over-concentration in a few regions.

Highlighting the growing confidence of global technology leaders in India, the minister said Google is strengthening its commitment to Bharat’s artificial intelligence ecosystem.

This includes plans for a $15 billion AI data centre in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, and deeper partnerships with Indian startups working in advanced technology and innovation.

He said such investments reflect India’s rising importance in future technologies such as semiconductors, AI and digital infrastructure.

According to Vaishnaw, the government’s focus on policy stability, skilled talent, and large domestic demand is creating a strong foundation for long-term growth in the high-technology manufacturing sector.

The minister added that Bharat is no longer just a market for technology but is emerging as a global hub for innovation, production and trusted supply chains.

“Google is strengthening its commitment to India’s AI ecosystem, including a $15B AI data centre in Vizag & partnerships with Indian startups,” the Union Minister mentioned.
