Angul: Forest personnel on Tuesday arrested two poachers and seized illegal weapons and wildlife hunting materials in Dalabehera Sahi village under Antulia Beat of the Jarpada Range in Angul district.
The arrested poachers have been identified as Babuli Dalabehera and Chhita Dalabehera.
According to ACF Sidharth Jain of the Angul Forest Division, the operation was launched around 12:30 pm based on a tip-off about illegal hunting activities in the area.
During a search of the accused’s residence, officials seized a significant cache of illegal weapons and wildlife hunting materials. The items recovered included two old country-made guns, two gajabadi, and seven deer horns. In addition, officials found three head torches with two batteries, ten boar snares, five kilograms of GI wire, and one saw.
“The quantity and nature of the recovered items clearly indicate involvement in illegal hunting and wildlife-related offences,” said Jain.
All seized materials were securely transported to the Jarpada Range Office and further investigation is ongoing.
