Bhubaneswar: Following a bomb threat to the world-famous Jagannath Temple in Puri through a social media post, Puri Police has become extra vigilant and initiated an investigation into the matter.
As per reports, the threat was reportedly made through a Facebook ID named ‘Juli Rani Panda’, claiming bombs will be hurled at the temple, Puri Grand Centre, and Subhasish Khuntia will be fired at.
Talking to the media, Puri SP Prateek Singh said, “Puri Police have formed a special team led by City DSP to investigate the matter, and the URL link of the suspicious social media account is being examined. All events will be clear by evening.
He further said, “Security has been tightened at the Jagannath Temple. The temple’s outer and inner areas are being thoroughly checked by the bomb squad. The Special Security Force and Special Commandos are on high alert, ensuring the temple’s safety. Additionally, security has been beefed up at key locations in Puri city, and arrangements for Rajya Sabha MP Subhashish Khuntia have been tightened following the gun attack threat.”
It is pertinent to mention that the threatening Facebook posts came to light only after they went viral, sparking widespread concern and fear among Puri residents and the countless devotees of Lord Jagannath. The servitors of Jagannath temple demanded that police track down the person behind the posts and take swift action.
