Bhubaneswar: Last rites of a 31-year-old jawan from Anandapalli village in Nayagarh district were performed with full state honours.
According to reports, Jitu Behera, serving as a Naik in the Army’s NK Rank in the Tangdhar area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, collapsed following the suspected cardiac arrest while on duty on January 26 on Monday. He was taken to a local health center but unfortunately didn’t survive.
His body was brought back to the village on Wednesday evening, where a large crowd gathered to pay tribute. A procession was also taken out, and the police personnel from Itamati and Nayagarh district paid their respects.
The village is still reeling from the shock of his sudden demise, especially his wife, who is struggling to come to terms with the loss. Jitu had gotten married just a few months ago.
