Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday welcomed the Union Budget 2026–27, calling it forward-looking, inclusive, and in line with the vision of “Development with Heritage.”
Extending greetings on the occasion of Magha Purnima and the birth anniversary of Sant Guru Ravidas Ji, the Chief Minister congratulated Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for presenting the budget under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Taking to social media platform X, the Chief Minister said the budget offers new opportunities for youth, provides security to farmers, incentives to entrepreneurs, relief to the middle class, and recognition to workers. He noted that the budget places strong emphasis on innovation, manufacturing, and employment generation while strengthening key sectors such as agriculture, rural development, infrastructure, tourism, culture, and knowledge traditions.
Highlighting Odisha’s gains, CM Majhi said the proposed Rare Earth Corridor would boost mineral processing, research, and high-technology manufacturing in the state. He added that the operationalisation of National Waterway-5 (NW-5) would connect mineral-rich and industrial regions to ports, enabling cost-effective and environmentally sustainable transportation. Skill development centres along the waterway, he said, would help equip local youth with training and employment opportunities.
The Chief Minister also welcomed conservation-based tourism initiatives such as Turtle Trails and mountain trails in the Eastern Ghats, stating that these measures would protect biodiversity, empower local communities, and position Odisha as a global destination for nature and adventure tourism.
CM Majhi further said that enhanced support for MSMEs, startups, and indigenous production would strengthen the foundation of an Atmanirbhar Bharat. He added that through social justice, inclusive development, and good governance, the budget lays a strong foundation for India’s present and future growth.
Thanking the Prime Minister and the Union Finance Minister, the Chief Minister described the Union Budget as visionary and welfare-oriented.
