Bhubaneswar: Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) for the 2026–27 academic session were held across schools in Odisha, bringing together parents, teachers, School Management Committee (SMC) members and school authorities to strengthen cooperation in improving educational outcomes and student welfare.
The meetings provided a forum to discuss a broad range of issues related to academics, student well-being and community participation. Among the key topics were the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Viksit Bharat initiative, Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 campaign, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 3.0, Suravi programme, observance of Swachhata Pakhwada, and the role of parents in protecting children from online risks and promoting responsible digital behaviour.
Career guidance and future planning for students also figured prominently during the discussions, with educators highlighting the importance of parental involvement in helping children make informed academic and career choices.
School authorities reviewed the availability and upkeep of sanitary vending machines and incinerators for adolescent girls and stressed the need to maintain hygiene and cleanliness on school campuses. Participants also deliberated on measures to identify out-of-school and dropout children and facilitate their return to the formal education system to improve enrolment and retention.
The meetings also focused on inclusive education, with participants being informed about the support available for Children with Special Needs (CWSN) under the Samagra Shiksha programme. Teachers and parents discussed their shared responsibility in ensuring equal learning opportunities and the overall development of children with special needs.
Participants underscored that sustained engagement between parents, teachers and the community is vital for the holistic development of students and the continuous improvement of schools. Parents were encouraged to share feedback and suggestions to enhance the quality of education and strengthen the functioning of educational institutions across the state.
