Sundargarh: A truck helper died, and the driver was critically injured after a 16-wheeler truck they were travelling in fell off the Jamunanaki bridge into the Sankh River late Sunday night. The accident occurred under the under Brahmani Taranga police station police station area.
The truck was pulled out of the river using heavy machinery on Monday morning.
According to preliminary reports, the truck, which wasn’t carrying cargo, reportedly lost control after hitting the divider on the bridge and plunged into the river. The labourer died on the spot, while the driver was rushed to Rourkela Government Hospital.
Upon being informed, police reached the accident site and began investigation. Police will record driver’s statement once he recovers. Besides, police are examining whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
