Jharsuguda: A woman died and her husband was critically injured when a miscreant stabbed the couple near Jharsuguda railway station on Wednesday late night.
According to reports, the couple had collected plastic waste from Rengali station and brought it to Jharsuguda, where they sold it for Rs 750. As they were returning with the money, the miscreant reportedly struck near the train washing platform. The woman, whose identity is yet to be disclosed, received a fatal stab wound to the chest while trying to save her husband.
Subsequently, the injured man has been admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital, where he is fighting for his life.
Upon being informed, Jharsuguda police launched an investigation into the incident and arrested the accused.
Police also recovered the blood stained clothes from the accused and handed over the accused to Jharsuguda Government Railway Police (GRP) for further investigations.
