Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Excise Department has stepped up its crackdown on narcotics under the ongoing ‘Drug-Free Odisha’ (Nasha Mukt Odisha) campaign, with Excise Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan pledging to destroy more ganja fields and seize larger quantities of drugs this year.
Speaking on Saturday, the Excise Minister stated that the department is implementing strict measures across the state to curb illegal drug trafficking.
“From constables to superintendents, all excise officials are being trained and encouraged to maintain physical fitness and actively participate in enforcement operations,” he said.
Comparing this year’s campaign with last year’s, Harichandan added, “We will work harder to destroy more ganja fields and seize larger quantities of narcotics this year. The department is determined to make Odisha completely drug-free in the coming days.”
The campaign will include intensified field surveillance, community awareness programmes, and close coordination with local police to dismantle drug trafficking networks.
“This campaign is not just about seizures; it is about creating a sustainable system to prevent drugs from reaching our youth,” the minister emphasised.
Through these measures, the Odisha Excise Department aims to clamp down on illegal drug networks and reinforce its commitment to a safer, drug-free Odisha.
