Sundaragada: An iron rod-laden trailer truck was completely gutted after catching fire near Ranpur under Talasara police station limits in Sundaragada district on Tuesday, with the driver reportedly escaping unhurt, police said.
According to preliminary reports, the truck was moving along the road when flames suddenly erupted in the vehicle for an unknown reason. The fire quickly engulfed the truck, destroying it completely.
The driver managed to escape from the vehicle in time and narrowly avoided injury.
On being alerted, a fire brigade team reached the spot and launched efforts to bring the blaze under control.
While the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, a suspected electrical short circuit in the vehicle is believed to have triggered the blaze.
