Bhubaneswar: The Shree Jagannath Darshan Yojana was launched in Chatrapur of Ganjam, with 74 senior citizens receiving the opportunity to have darshan of Lord Jagannath.
The scheme, inaugurated by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Nabarangpur, aims to facilitate easy and smooth darshan of the trinity for senior citizens, economically weaker devotees, and pilgrims.
Commerce & Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena flagged off pilgrimage buses from Chhatrapur Mini Stadium, emphasizing the State Government’s commitment to welfare schemes. “Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath is the spiritual center of the Odia community and consciousness,” Shri Jena said, highlighting the Lord’s unparalleled spiritual aura and energy.
The scheme will benefit over 1.2 lakh elderly people in 4 years, providing free travel facilities to Puri Shrimandir, stay at Brundabati Nivas, Mahaprasad, and meals. Eligible beneficiaries include senior citizens aged 60-75 years and widows up to 75 years.
Dignitaries present included Khalikote MLA Purna Chandra Sethi, Chatrapur MLA Krishna Chandra Nayak, and Ganjam District Collector V. Keerthi Vasan. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister and State Government for the facilities.
