Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police has launched a state-wide special enforcement drive, ‘Operation Cyber Kavach’, targeting mule bank accounts and cybercrime facilitators. The operation, coordinated across multiple districts, aims to destroy the financial infrastructure of cybercriminals.
Directed by Director General of Police, YB Khurania, the drive has led to verification of 924 mule bank accounts, registration of 68 cybercrime cases, and arrest of 62 accused persons. Additionally, 218 legal notices have been served to suspected facilitators and account holders.
UPD Cuttack verified six benami bank accounts, arrested five, and issued legal notices to four. Kandhamal District verified 35 accounts, registered 12 cases. Balasore District verified three accounts, registered one case, and arrested four. Rayagada District verified four accounts, registered three cases. Angul, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Berhampur, Boudh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Malkangiri, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Sundargarh, and Jharsuguda districts also conducted verifications and enforcement actions.
The campaign, carried out by district cyber teams under SP and DCP supervision, aims to ensure digital security for the people of Odisha.
