Bhubaneswar: Authorities at Utkal University have rolled out a comprehensive set of guidelines aimed at strengthening discipline and ensuring a secure academic environment on the campus.
As part of the new measures, carrying a valid identity card has been made mandatory for all students within the university premises. Security personnel have been granted full authority to verify ID cards at any point inside the campus.
According to a university official, any individual found on the premises without a valid ID card and a genuine purpose will be treated as an “unauthorised person” and may be handed over to the police. The move is intended to prevent the entry of outsiders and enhance overall campus safety.
The university administration has also declared the campus a “zero tolerance zone” against the use of tobacco and intoxicants, including e-cigarettes. Consumption of liquor, tobacco, and other intoxicating substances has been strictly prohibited within the campus limits. Officials have warned that violations will invite stringent disciplinary action.
In addition, the authorities have imposed restrictions on unauthorised loitering to preserve the academic atmosphere. Emphasising the need to maintain decorum, the university stated that no one will be allowed to create indiscipline or disrupt the study environment.
“All students must strictly adhere to the guidelines. Any violation will be dealt with sternly,” the official said, underscoring the administration’s resolve to maintain order and uphold the sanctity of the campus.
