Jeypore: A heart-wrenching incident claimed the life of a three-year-old boy on Thursday morning morning in Laxminagar area, opposite the Art School, in Jeypore where his family runs a snack vending shop.
The child, affectionately called “Kahna” by locals, was playfully following his mother around the house as usual. While family members were busy operating the flour grinding machine to prepare flour for their shop, the toddler wandered near the running machine. In a moment of curiosity, he put his hand into the machine, causing his arm to get pulled in. He subsequently fell into the grinder. The chain around his neck reportedly got entangled, leading to strangulation and asphyxiation.
Family members immediately rushed the critically injured child to the District Headquarters Hospital in Jeypore, but doctors declared him brought dead on arrival due to severe injuries and lack of breathing.
The entire Laxminagar neighbourhood is engulfed in grief, with residents mourning the loss of the lively little boy known to all.
Police have registered a case, and an investigation is underway to ascertain exact circumstances.
