Koraput: A section of the old canal bridge under the Irrigation Department has collapsed, cutting off connectivity to several villages under Bariniput panchayat from Jeypore town.
As per reports, the bridge was clear of pedestrians and vehicles at the time, averting a potentially disastrous accident. Due to the collapse of the canal bridge, locals are stranded, and traffic is halted.
The bridge’s collapse has badly hit connectivity to several Bariniput Panchayat villages. Daily commuters, farmers carrying produce, and schoolkids had relied on it. With the collapse of the bridge, they are stuck taking long detours, causing a lot of trouble and delay.
Jeypore Sadar police are investigating to determine the reason behind the bridge’s collapse.
