Rajkanika (Kendrapara): Authorities have initiated an investigation following allegations of sexual assault involving a Class 7 student of a private English-medium school in the Rajkanika police limits of Kendrapara district.
The matter surfaced after the girl’s mother lodged a formal complaint with the District Child Welfare Committee (CWC) on Wednesday. Treating the issue as highly sensitive, the committee promptly began its inquiry.
Swagatika Patra, chairperson of the Kendrapara CWC, stated that the complaint was received on February 18 and the investigation commenced the next day. Officials have since recorded the survivor’s statement and conducted a visit to the school to assess the situation and gather preliminary information.
Parallelly, Rajkanika police have launched their own probe into the allegations. As part of the investigation, three teachers and a female staff member from the school were taken to the police station for questioning and are being detained for further interrogation. Police personnel also visited the student’s residence to collect additional details.
As of the latest reports, neither the school administration nor the police have issued an official statement regarding the incident.
