Bhubaneswar: Odisha is set to fast-track its industrialisation drive with the Industries Department targeting projects worth over Rs 3 lakh crore by June 2026, marking two years of BJP rule in the state. Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain today conducted a detailed review of departmental activities to ensure timely execution of these projects.

The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma, along with senior officials from IDCO and IPICOL. Discussions focused on accelerating the implementation of projects approved by the High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) and the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA). Minister Swain directed all departmental officers to work collaboratively, adhere to timelines, and achieve the set targets.

A total of 394 projects have been approved by the SLSWCA and HLCA, with a combined investment of Rs 8.15 lakh crore. These initiatives have the potential to generate more than 5 lakh jobs across the state. So far, foundation stones have been laid or projects inaugurated for 108 projects with an investment of over Rs 2.4 lakh crore, expected to create around 1.75 lakh employment opportunities.

Industrial Boost

Minister Swain emphasised that industrialisation is a cornerstone of the state’s economic progress. “The government is committed to fast-tracking the remaining projects to create extensive employment opportunities for the youth of Odisha,” he said.

With the planned projects spanning sectors like manufacturing, energy, and infrastructure, Odisha aims to position itself as a leading industrial hub in eastern India.
