Bhubaneswar: Panic gripped officials and staff at Toshali Bhawan in Satya Nagar on Thursday after a fire broke out in the building’s record room. The blaze, which is believed to have been caused by a short circuit, reportedly damaged several important documents and files.
Fire service personnel rushed to the site soon after the incident was reported and managed to bring the flames under control. Police from the Kharvelnagar police station also reached the building to assess the situation and maintain order.
Eyewitnesses said smoke quickly spread through parts of the building, prompting a hurried evacuation of staff and officials.
“We noticed smoke coming from the record room and immediately alerted the fire services. It was a tense moment,” said one of the employees on the premises.
Authorities are yet to fully assess the extent of the damage. A detailed inquiry is expected to be conducted to determine the exact cause of the fire and evaluate the loss of records.
