Bhubaneswar: The Higher Education Department of the Odisha government has announced that the admission process for postgraduate (PG) courses for the 2026–27 academic session will begin on February 27, with classes scheduled to commence from July 10 across universities and colleges in the state.
According to the Higher Education Department, the move to advance the admission schedule aims to streamline the academic calendar, ensure the timely completion of the admission process, and facilitate the smooth conduct of classes, examinations, and the declaration of results.
Students seeking admission to various PG programmes will have to appear for the Common PG Entrance Test (CPET), which will serve as the sole criterion for selection. Eligible candidates can fill out the Common Application Form (CAF) online through the SAMS (Student Academic Management System) portal between February 27 and March 15, 2026.
The CPET for different postgraduate subjects will be conducted from April 27 to May 10, 2026. Admissions will be granted strictly on the basis of marks secured in the entrance examination, officials clarified.
The department has set a target to begin PG classes in all state public universities and affiliated colleges by July 10, 2026. Sources in the department said that conducting the admission process early will help institutions adhere to the academic schedule without delays, benefiting thousands of students across Odisha.
The decision is also expected to bring greater uniformity and transparency to the PG admission process through the centralized online system, ensuring efficiency and timely completion of the academic session.
