Bhubaneswar: The 54th State Police Rifle Shooting Competition of Odisha Police was formally inaugurated today at the premises of Police Training Institute (PTI), Bairi in Jajpur district.
The function was graced by the Chief Guest, Director (Intelligence), R. P. Koche, who inspected the guard of honor. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the main objective of the competition is to improve rifle shooting skills among police officers and personnel.
He hoped that each and every competitor participating in the competition will perform at their best. Koche called upon the Odisha Police to maintain its unique reputation and identity at the national level. He also encouraged everyone to make the competition a success with sportsmanship and strong self-confidence.
16 police teams from different ranges and battalions of the state have participated in this championship. A total of 269 players, including 265 men and four women, have participated in this championship. The competition will continue till March 1.
IG Satish Kumar Gajbhiye, Commandant PTI, Bairi Ashok Kumar Dehuri, Commandant 6th OSAP, Cuttack, Surya Narayan Mallick, Sports Officer of the State Police Headquarters Neela Madhav Swain and many senior police officers were present at the inauguration ceremony of this championship.
