Bhubaneswar: The police have cracked a long-standing liquor smuggling racket in Nuapada area, seizing 880 bottles of foreign liquor and arresting the driver, Chandan alias Shiv Prasad Das (25), of Nuapada.
The police also seized a Swift Dzire car (Od 33-3500) used in the smuggling. Another accused, Muna alias Santhosh Pradhan, is on the run. A case has been registered against Dilip Roy, manager of a foreign liquor shop in Deehsahi, for allegedly supplying liquor to the smuggler.
According to police, the smuggler would buy liquor from the Dihsahi shop and sell it illegally. The police intercepted the car near Pakanpur, and Muna escaped upon spotting the police vehicle. A large quantity of liquor was recovered from the car’s trunk and back seat
