Bhubaneswar: A wild elephant was rescued from a well in Banajodi village under Keonjhar Sadar Range after it fell in while searching for food with its herd.
The forest department officials dug open the well from all sides to free the elephant after hours of relentless effort.
As per reports, a herd of elephants had entered the village in search of food, and one of them fell into a well. Locals subsequently informed forest department officials who reached the scene to rescue the elephant. The well was dug open from all sides, and the elephant was rescued. However, as it emerged, the elephant attacked a JCB machine and damaged nearby houses and seven bikes. Three villagers were injured in the chaos and were rushed to a nearby hospital.
