Bhubaneswar: In a significant development, 933 out of 1208 street vendors from Puri Bada Danda have agreed to relocate to the vending zone near Shree Setu, said Housing and Urban Development Minister Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra in the Odisha Legislative Assembly today.
Minister’s reply came in response to a query raised by MLA Sunil Kumar Mohanty.
“Of the 933 vendors, 627 have already opened their kiosks, while the remaining 306 are yet to do so. The 306 vendors who have not been shifted to the complex will be paid three months’ financial assistance by the Land Acquisition Office after they shift their kiosks as per government norms.
The relocation effort aims to decongest Puri Badadanda and provide vendors with a better working environment.
