Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government’s MSME Department has announced a major push to bring 500,000 micro and small enterprises (MSEs) onto the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) by 2027, Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Minister Gokulananda Mallick informed the state assembly on Wednesday.
In a written reply to a question by Satyabadi MLA Om Prakash Mishra, Minister Mallick said the department is systematically organising awareness and onboarding programmes at the district level through the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) initiative.
The Minister also stated that the initiative forms part of the MSE-TEAM (Micro and Small Enterprises Trade Enablement and Marketing) scheme under the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, with a particular focus on tier II and tier III cities across the state.
“The department is conducting workshops in coordination with Seller Network Participants (SNPs) to educate producer groups, artisans, and MSMEs about ONDC, facilitate onboarding, and register them under the TEAM scheme,” Mallick said. “So far, three dedicated outreach programmes have been held in Khordha, Cuttack, and Nayagarh districts, successfully reaching numerous enterprises and artisan groups.”
The SNPs have also independently conducted multiple awareness and onboarding sessions across the state. One notable programme in Puri district successfully onboarded seven artisans onto the ONDC platform.
However, Mallick noted that no enterprises from Satyabadi block have been onboarded yet. “We recognise the need for comprehensive coverage across all blocks, including Satyabadi,” he said. “An outreach event under the RAMP programme is being planned at the district level in the coming months to address this gap.”
In coordination with the District Industries Centre (DIC), Puri, targeted efforts will be made to mobilise producer groups, artisans, and traders from Satyabadi block, along with other blocks in the district. These workshops will focus on raising awareness of digital commerce platforms, providing hands-on training for registration and onboarding, demonstrating the benefits of digital commerce for rural traders and artisans, and facilitating end-to-end onboarding support.
“The department remains committed to achieving inclusive digital integration of MSME enterprises across all blocks and will continue to intensify outreach efforts in tier II and tier III cities,” Mallick added.
Through this initiative, the Odisha government aims to strengthen the digital presence of its micro and small enterprises, improve market access, and ensure that rural traders and artisans benefit from e-commerce opportunities under ONDC and GeM (Government e-Marketplace).
