Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi celebrated its 66th foundation day today at the Kalinga Art Gallery in Bhubaneswar with grandeur and cultural fervor.
Renowned artists Padma Shri Adwaita Charan Gadanayak and Padma Shri Binod Maharana, along with Deba Prasad Dash, Special Secretary of the Odia Language, Literature, and Culture Department, and Dr. Chandrasekhar Hota, Secretary of the Odisha Sahitya Akademi, graced the occasion as chief guests.
Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries highlighted the pivotal role of the Akademi in promoting Odisha’s rich heritage of art, sculpture, and culture. They noted, “The Akademi has organized national-level art workshops in recent years and continues to preserve the traditional arts of the state. It is imperative that we integrate modern skills and technologies in the arts, especially in the era of artificial intelligence, to empower young artists and ensure their success.”
As part of the celebrations, a drawing competition was held for students from various schools on the theme “Culture of Odisha.” Talented participants were felicitated with prizes and certificates by the Akademi.
The event was conducted by Dr. Devjani Bhuyan, Secretary of the Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi, while Sunil Kumar Dakua proposed the vote of thanks.
The celebration underscored the Akademi’s commitment to nurturing artistic talent and preserving Odisha’s cultural legacy.
