Cuttack: A fire broke out at a Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) office on Link Road in Cuttack city on Tuesday, gutting several important documents and triggering panic in the area.
According to reports, flames were first noticed from inside the office premises, following which locals alerted the fire brigade. Firefighters rushed to the spot and launched an operation to douse the blaze. The fire was later brought under control after sustained efforts.
Officials said no casualties or injuries have been reported in the incident. However, preliminary reports indicate that several important records and documents kept inside the office were destroyed in the fire.
The exact cause of the blaze is yet to be ascertained. Fire officials suspect that a short circuit may have triggered the incident, though a detailed investigation is underway to determine the cause.
