Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi congratulated the state’s athletes on their impressive performance at the first Khelo India Tribal Games in Chhattisgarh.
The athletes have won a total of 17 medals, including 11 in swimming (4 gold, 7 bronze) and 6 in weightlifting (2 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze).
In his congratulatory message, CM Majhi praised the athletes’ dedication and hard work, wishing them continued success and a bright future ahead.
Taking to his X handle, CM wrote: “The exceptional success of Odisha’s sports talents at the first Khelo India Tribal Games in Chhattisgarh is a matter of pride for the state. So far, our athletes have showcased their excellence, winning 11 medals in swimming (4 gold, 7 bronze) and 6 medals in weightlifting (2 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze). Their outstanding performance reflects their dedication and hard work. I congratulate all the winning athletes on this achievement. I wish all the athletes continued success and a bright future ahead.”
Notably, the first edition of Khelo India Tribal Games (KITG) began in Chhattisgarh on Wednesday, with Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya terming it as a ‘significant milestone’ and stating that it will provide a national platform for tribal athletes to showcase and nurture their talent.
Around 3,800 participants from 30 states are competing across nine disciplines in the 10-day KITG.
