Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a 30-year-old man attempted suicide by climbing a mobile tower in Singarajkonda village under Padia police station in Malkangiri district, on Saturday morning.
The youth, identified as a resident of Undrukonda village, stayed atop the tower for several minutes, triggering panic among local residents.
Acting swiftly, locals alerted the man’s family and the fire department, which rushed personnel to the scene. The rescue team engaged the youth in calm conversation, counseled him, and persuaded him to descend safely. After sustained efforts, he was brought down without sustaining any injuries.
While the exact motive behind the suicide attempt is yet to be officially confirmed, preliminary reports suggest that it could be related to personal or love-related issues. Authorities said the youth is currently safe, and steps are being taken to provide necessary support for his well-being.
