Bhubaneswar: A minor boy went missing while bathing in the Mahanadi River near the Baideswar T-Bridge at Banki on Sunday, triggering an extensive rescue operation.
The boy has been identified as Sobhan Rout, a resident of Baideswar village.
According to reports, Sobhan and another boy had gone to bathe in the river when strong currents swept Sobhan away. Villagers immediately raised an alarm, prompting three teams from the Fire Services to rush to the spot. An intensive search operation is currently underway to trace the missing child.
Meanwhile, a pall of gloom has descended over the village, with neighbors and relatives keeping vigil along the riverbank.
