Kendrapara: Rajnagar police have detained two persons in connection with the death of a seven-year-old girl at Badhinakolha village under Rajnagar block in Kendrapara district on Friday.
The accused have been identified as Benucharan Das and his son from the same village. They were picked up by police late last night and are currently being interrogated. The family of the deceased girl has lodged a complaint accusing Benucharan Das of murdering the minor and dumping her body in a canal. The girl’s mother alleged that Benucharan Das killed her daughter and threw the body into the canal.
The girl had gone missing on April 2 since around 10 am. Her body was recovered yesterday from a nearby canal. Kendrapara Superintendent of Police, along with a scientific team and dog squad, rushed to the spot yesterday and initiated a detailed investigation. The body was sent for post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Further investigation is underway.
