Bhubaneswar: Three members of a family sustained injuries after a gas cylinder suddenly exploded, triggering a massive fire in Saradang village under Khaira block in Balasore district on Saturday.
According to reports, the incident occurred while Manoranjan Panda’s wife was cooking in the kitchen. The LPG gas cylinder burst, causing the fire to spread rapidly and engulf household belongings. The injured persons have been identified as Chandra Shekhar Panda, Manoranjan Panda, and his son Bismit Shekhar Panda. Among the injured, Bismit is being treated at Simulia hospital for treatment, while Manoranjan was admitted to Khaira hospital.
The fire destroyed several valuable items, including a motorcycle, bicycle, and other household goods, causing losses amounting to lakhs of rupees.
Upon being informed, local fire brigade personnel reached the spot promptly and took over an hour to bring the raging fire under control.
Police are investigating the exact cause of the gas cylinder explosion.
