Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday described the state budget not merely as a statement of income and expenditure, but as a comprehensive roadmap for the all-round development of Odisha and the realization of every citizen’s aspirations. He made these remarks while addressing the state-level budget awareness workshop titled ‘Ame Janiba, Ama Budget’ at Lok Seva Bhawan.
The workshop aimed to explain the key features of the 2026-27 Budget in simple language and gather public feedback. The government has planned similar programmes across the state from April 1 to 14.Majhi highlighted the government’s long-term vision aligned with the national goal of Viksit Bharat @2047.
The state has set ambitious targets, including raising per capita income from the current Rs 1.8 lakh to Rs 32 lakh by 2047, reducing multidimensional poverty to 5 percent, increasing women’s participation in the workforce to 70 percent, raising average life expectancy above 80 years, and completely eradicating anemia and malnutrition.
The Chief Minister stated that the ₹3.10 lakh crore budget for 2026-27 is 7 percent higher than the previous year’s estimate, with strong emphasis on capital expenditure.
