Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued a nowcast yellow warning, forecasting light thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and light rain in several districts of Odisha over the next few hours.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, the weather condition is likely to affect one or two places in Kalahandi, Rayagada, Gajapati, Khurda, Cuttack, and Jajpur districts within three hours from 3:15 PM IST.
The IMD has advised residents in these areas to remain alert and keep a close watch on rapidly changing weather conditions. People have been urged to be prepared to move to safer locations in case of lightning activity to minimise the risk of lightning strikes.
A yellow warning indicates the possibility of potentially disruptive weather, prompting citizens to “be aware” and take necessary precautions.
