Titilagarh Hottest At 42°C As Heatwave Scorches Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Temperatures continued to soar across Odisha on Wednesday, with Titilagarh emerging as the hottest place in the state at 42.0°C, according to the evening weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department’s Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre.

Several places recorded maximum temperatures of 40°C or above, underscoring the intensity of the prevailing heatwave conditions. Sambalpur, Hirakud, and Bolangir each recorded 41.0°C, while Jharsuguda followed at 41.6°C. Talcher and Bhawanipatna registered 40.8°C, and Boudh touched 40.0°C.

In the coastal belt, temperatures, though relatively lower, remained above normal, with Chandbali at 37.7°C, Cuttack at 36.0°C, Bhubaneswar at 35.9°C, and Balasore at 36.3°C.

Night temperatures offered little relief, staying between 21.5°C and 27.7°C across various parts of the state.

Humidity levels remained high in several areas, aggravating discomfort. Boudh recorded 96% relative humidity in the morning, while coastal and southern regions such as Gopalpur and Paralakhemundi also witnessed elevated moisture levels.

Rainfall activity remained largely absent, with most stations reporting no rainfall in the past 24 hours. Only Paralakhemundi recorded 2.0 mm rainfall, while Nayagarh reported trace precipitation.

The weather office indicated that dry conditions are likely to persist, with heatwave conditions expected to continue in parts of the state.
